Franciscan

Franciscan tableware began in 1875 as a partnership caled 'Gladding, McBean & Co.' after Charles Gladding, Peter McGill McBean and George Chambers in California. Initially they produced clay building products, but due to the economic collapse in 1929, they were forced to adapt to also manufacturer earthenware tableware. As such their wares proved to be quite popular even during a period of frugality. In the early 1940's the company became 'Franciscan Ware' with a number of patterns being produced, namely 'Apple' and 'Desert Rose' being the most recognisable of them all
